Now that the official summer travel season is underway, officials are reminding motorists that simple steps can go far when it comes to safety on the road.
That's the message behind National Tire Safety Week, underway June 3rd through the 9th.
Kim Weber is the Director of Government Affairs for the Rubber Manufacturers Association, working to educate drivers on the many ways that a vehicle's tires impact a number of driving-related issues(Play Audio)
Weber says, with the high price of gas, motorists should be reminded that proper tire care can save money at the pump(Play Audio)
Weber reminds drivers, as they check the pressure with tire gauge in hand, to make sure the proper inflation guidelines are being followed(Play Audio)
Another key for avoiding hazards on the roadway is making sure current tires are safe for travel(Play Audio)
Weber says other vehicle maintenance, including tire rotation and alignment correction, should also be done, as recommended by a reputable mechanic, in order to keep yourself safe during summer travel.
