A unique, once in a lifetime opportunity happens starting Tuesday evening, as the Transit of Venus will be observed in the sky.

Making viewing simple for those interested in watching as Venus passes between the earth and the sun is the new Banner Creek Science Center, where Mike Ford serves as Observatory Director and Director of Education(Play Audio)

Ford says the Science Center is working to assist the public in seeing the unique event, selling low cost viewing glasses and opening the center to those who are interested(Play Audio)

Ford says he hopes to see the public visit the Science Center, many for the first time, in order to take full advantage of Tuesday's Transit of Venus(Play Audio)

Just last week, the Banner Creek Science Center held a dedication ceremony for a new building, marking another step forward in expansion of the center.

Ford says he's working to see the location become a destination point for astronomical events, and is already planning viewing parties for upcoming occasions.
