It took nearly an hour for the Falls City Council to hash out what to do over a recommendation from the City Health Insurance Committee to change the Agent of Record for Health Insurance from Miller Monroe in Falls City, represented by company President Steve Kottich to Benefit Management of Lincoln.
City Administrator Gary Jorn provided some background on how the Committee arrived at the recommendation for the change. ( play audio :30 seconds )

Kottich who has served as the broker for the City for about the past 10 years said Miller Monroe can provide the services desired but felt the request was simply to take the business away from his company. ( play audio :23 seconds )
Doug Wheeler, another member of the Committee said it was a tough decision but one they felt was well thought out. ( play audio :37 seconds )
Dan Duren with Benefit Management touched on one of the ideas he has for shaving costs off the current $730,000 in health insurance premiums the City is paying. ( play audio :34 seconds )
The Council voted 4-2 to approve the recommendation with Council members Steve Scholl and Ryan Rieschick casting the no votes. Councilman Jim Wisdom was not at the meeting.
