Ladner says she expects the commission to narrow the field of candidates down further after the interviews Tuesday.
Evans Woehlecke announced in late April that he was stepping down as police chief after holding the position for 12 years, but would continue to serve as an officer.
Woehlecke is serving as interim chief until a new police chief is appointed.
