A burn ban is in place in Holt County Missouri. County Commissioners issued the ban due to the extremely dry and windy conditions.
The ban prohibits all outdoor burning, including the burning of brush piles and debris.
Commissioners put the burn ban in place at the request of local fire officials after meeting with Don Scheib of the Southern Fire Protection District Board.
Holt County has received some rain in the last couple weeks, but the precipitation has not been widespread enough to alleviate the drought conditions. The burn ban is in effect until further notice.
