UNL Hires New Compliance Director
The Nebraska Athletic Department announced Wednesday that Jamie Vaughn has been hired as Associate Athletic Director for Compliance. Vaughn joins the Nebraska staff after holding the same position at Kansas State for the past three years.
Vaughn will assume his new position in mid-July and will replace Gary Bargen who will retire later this summer. Bargen has led the Nebraska compliance department since 1999, and been a member of the compliance staff since 1995. He served as an assistant basketball coach from 1987 to 1995.
Vaughn will take charge of a compliance staff of seven members that is charged with ensuring that the conduct and operations of Nebraska’s 23 athletic teams are in compliance with NCAA and Big Ten Conference rules and regulations. He will also be a member of Osborne’s athletic department executive staff.
Vaughn assumed the role of Associate Athletic Director for Compliance at Kansas State in 2009. In his time at K-State, Vaughn evaluated and re-organized the Compliance Office structure and daily operations. He also assisted with the development of the Athletic Department’s five-year strategic plan and served as the campus contact to the NCAA for the University’s 3rd Cycle Certification process.
Before his time in Manhattan, Vaughn was the Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance at Texas Tech from 2007 to 2009, where he successfully led the daily operations Red Raiders’ Compliance Office.
Vaughn also has experience in the Big Ten Conference, having worked as an assistant compliance director at Ohio State from 2004 to 2007.
