An October jury trial has been set for a rural Valley Falls man charged with attempted first-degree murder.
John Hayworth Jr. is accused of shooting William Schoonover of rural Valley Falls last December as he was working in a field. Schoonover later recovered from his injuries.
Hayworth pleaded not guilty in March to the attempted murder charge.
His wife, Bernadine, is charged with obstructing apprehension of the prosecution. Prosecutors alleged that she tried to kick a cell phone out of Schoonover’s hand after he was shot.
A jury trial for both is set for October 23rd-26th in Jefferson County District Court.
