Prairie Hills USD 113 Superintendent Dennis Stones is set to retire Saturday after 37 years in education, the past twenty spent at Sabetha.
Stones, a native of Sabetha, says he plans to continue living in Sabetha and doesn’t rule out doing something in the education field in the future...( play audio )
Stones has served as Superintendent for USD 113 since 2010 and prior to consolidation served as Superintendent of USD 441 since 1999. Prior to that he served as assistant superintendent for three years and Sabetha High School principal for four years.
Prior to returning to his hometown, Stones was a high school principal in Madison Kansas for two years; 7th-12th grade principal in Kremlin, Oklahoma for 5 years and a teacher and coach for 10 years in Nebraska.
William “ Bill” Orth will replace Stones as Superintendent of USD 113, beginning July 1st. Orth comes to the district after serving as Superintendent of Schools in Osage City the past three years.
