The Jackson County road and bridge department will be getting a new motor grader.
After discussing options, County commissioners Monday approved the purchase of a 2011 Caterpillar motor grader from Foley Equipment of Topeka for $122,898 with the trade-in of a 1999 Caterpillar motor grader.
The motor grader comes with a five-year warranty, which will begin new with the 75-hundred hours on the machine.
In other business, Road and Bridge Administrator Randy Pool presented commissioners with an engineering study and report on the bridges in the county. Included were any bridges over 20 feet. There were about 196 bridges in the study.
