A Burn Ban for Atchison County is now in effect until further notice.
Atchison County Emergency Preparedness Director Wes Lanter made the call just after noon Friday.
This burn ban will NOT affect fireworks.
Lanter asks citizens to please use caution during the holiday festivities as we are in a very hot dry period.
He says the smallest ember could start a major fire in our current climate.
