Refrigerator Recycling Program for Falls City

The Falls City Utilities and the Municipal Energy Agency of Nebraska are teaming up to give residents of Falls City an opportunity to get rid of working, old refrigerators and freezers and get $35 for them. The part that is even better, is that someone will pick them up and haul them away.
    This opportunity is part of the ENERGYsmart Refrigerator Recycling Program, which is partially funded by the Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality’s Waste Reduction and Recycling Incentive Grant Program. The program offers $35 to recycle old, inefficient refrigerators and freezers.

    To take part in the program call the JACO Environmental Company toll-free 1-866-444-9160. Or visit their website www.jacoinc.net to schedule a free pickup.
    Romine says there are a couple of stipulations to take advantage of the program. ( play audio :09 seconds )
    Romine said in order to prove the appliance is working, put a cup of water in the freezer and let is sit until they come to pick it up.
    It is estimated that retiring an old refrigerator could save you up to $125 per year on your electric bill.
