Auburn Council Approves Historic Preservation District

KLZA - The Auburn City Council approved an ordinance this week setting up an Historic Preservation Board to help get an historical district established in the community.  The vote was 5-1 with Council member Katy Billings casting the nay vote.
    Mayor Scott Kudrna said that a grant application earlier this year led to the idea to create an historic district.  ( play audio  :33 seconds )
    The idea came with a number of concerns about being too restrictive for businesses to make improvements to their buildings. ( play audio  :35 seconds )
    Following approval of creating the district,  the Council approved the Mayor’s appointment of Historical Preservation Board members.  ( play audio  :30 seconds )
