Kickapoo Tribe Encourages Voluntary Water Conservation

(KNZA)--The Kickapoo Tribal Council is working to encourage voluntary water conservation as extreme temperatures, and a potentially devastating lack of moisture, continues both locally and across Kansas.

The tribe's efforts follow the recent declaration by Governor Sam Brownback regarding drought conditions in the state.

All members of the tribe are asked to consider voluntary water conservation by taking such steps as taking shorter showers, washing full loads of clothes and dishes, turning water off when brushing teeth or shaving, limiting outdoor watering, avoiding the hosing down of sidewalks, patios and driveways, and making necessary repairs to leaking faucets or toilets.

No restrictions regarding water usage are in place, but the Kickapoo Tribal Council says voluntary conservation efforts by residents will help avoid shortage issues during the remaining summer months.
