Water Restrictions Remain in Effingham
08/02/2012

(KAIR) -- Water restrictions remain in effect for the city of Effingham until further notice.

The determination came after Wednesday evening’s meeting of their city council.

City Clerk Pat Strine says they have seen a large drop in usage since the institution of the restrictions on July 24th, but not enough to lift the mandate.

The council also unanimously voted to lock up the city burn dump until further notice due to the large quantity of material currently in the dump and the elevated fire risk it poses.

The board also heard an update on their street resurfacing project.

Only Seabury Street remains to be asphalted and construction crews recommended waiting until a cool down in the weather to finish the project, which started a month ago.
