(KNZA)--A celebration of survival, while remembering those who lost the battle, is a key part of the Jackson County Relay For Life, scheduled to start Friday evening, and wrapping up early in the morning on Saturday.
Event Chair Deanie Keehn says strong support has already been shown, with numerous activities lined up, including Friday evening's opening ceremonies(Play Audio)
Once those events wrap up, the Relay For Life, happening at the Jackson Heights High School track, will officially get underway(Play Audio)
Despite the games, and other fun activities of the evening, Keehn says a somber setting will settle in at 10:00, the start time for the annual luminary ceremony(Play Audio)
Once that ceremony concludes, the setting returns to one of fun and food(Play Audio)
Keehn says all of the activities work together for one reason: raising funds in the battle against cancer(Play Audio)
The Jackson County Relay for Life, organized through the American Cancer Society, has been a local tradition since 1994.
