(KLZA) The Mound City Board of Education learned during their monthly meeting last week that enrollment for the 2012-13 school year is 246 which is a decrease of nine students from last year.
The Board members reviewed the goals for the district for the different grade levels and heard a report on FCCLA from students Jordan Miller, the organizations President and Ashley Vanderhide, the Activities Director for the organization.
Third grade teacher Cheryl Mauderly and Junior High Math Teacher Darcy Kent also presented information to the Board.
The Board members did approved the ACES cooperative which is Area Cooperative for Educational Services and includes 21 school districts in Northwest Missouri. Superintendent Ken Eaton provided some details about the ACES program. ( play audio :16 seconds )

Eaton said the ACES Committee members have been forced to make some major changes to the program due to funding issues. ( play audio :26 seconds )
After voting to close the Alternative School which is located in Maryville with the 2013-14 school year, the group has decided to apply for 20-million dollars in funding. ( play audio :16 seconds )
Eaton says a grant writing firm has been hired to prepare the grant application due to the short amount of time to get it submitted. ( play audio :19 seconds )
The ACES group is hoping that the large number of Northwest Missouri schools participating in the grant application will help the groups application. ( play audio :29 seconds )
