(KNZA)--With election day itself less than a month away, the race for 2nd District Brown County Commission begins to heat up.
That follows last weeks announcement by Horton's Roger Madere, who stated officially that he is running a write-in campaign for the seat, currently held by rural Holton farmer Keith Olsen.
Madere fell to Olsen in the August primary election by only one vote.
Madere, in an interview with this radio station, cited fiscal concerns as his key focus, using the salaries of the Brown County Commissioners as an example of where he would cut(Play Audio)
Olsen takes exception to his challenger's claim(Play Audio)
With “Write In Madere For County Commission” signs now in place, challenging those of Olsen's, the incumbent says he's working to retain his seat for one more term(Play Audio)
Regardless of the heated race, Olsen wants to make sure residents get out to vote for whoever they see as the best candidates in all contested races(Play Audio)
The voter registration deadline in Kansas is tomorrow.
Voters go to the polls on November 6th to make their decisions.
For write in candidates, the proper race must be selected on the ballot, the name written in, and the oval marked correctly.
