(KNZA)--The cold stillness of Horton's night time was shattered by the sounding of the emergency siren, as dense smoke billowed upward, illuminated by high flames that lit the night sky.
That happened as a fire engulfed a shed owned by Brett Hollister, who resides at 235 East 7th Street, with rescue crews from across the area rushing to the scene shortly after 11:00.
As the temperature stood at a cold 25 degrees, the area fire departments battled the intense blaze, keeping it from spreading to nearby residences, while Horton EMS stood by in case their services were required.
Remaining on the scene into the early morning hours of Tuesday, the fire was brought under control, and no injuries are reported.
The shed is a total loss, with the structure observed collapsing as it burned in the intense heat of the tall flames.
