(KTNC) - The Nemaha Natural Resources District’s Programs and Projects Committee reviewed potential changes to the District’s Soil and Water Conservation Program this month, but took no action on the potential changes.
Most of the changes involve clarifying wording that would be used for the program next year. It’s expected that the NRD Board will act to approve the changes at its December meeting.
The Nemaha NRD Board did accept as presented the audit report for the fiscal year ending June 30th.
The board also approved two well permit applications. One well for R-S-T Farms northeast of Brock will be used to supplement existing pivot irrigation and other farm uses. The other well for Richard Goracke northwest of Tecumseh will be used to irrigate 140 acres.
There’s still no resolution to discussions between the Natural Resources District and the Five Rivers R-C-and-D regarding office space.
The R-C-and-D has asked to rent the basement of the NRD office in Tecumseh for an office and storage space.
The NRD Board discussed the fact that the basement would have to be remodeled before it is used as office space, and the budget does not include money to do that. With cuts to R-C-and-D funding, it is also unclear how much they could contribute toward renting the space.
No decision was made on the matter this month, and NRD staff will continue to look into details and costs of remodeling the basement.
