New Bishop Installed for Lincoln Diocese
11/21/2012

(KLZA) More than 250 Roman Catholic bishops, abbots and priests from Nebraska, neighboring states and beyond filled Lincoln's Cathedral of the Risen Christ to watch the installation of Bishop James Conley.

The 57-year-old Conley took over Tuesday as the leader of the Lincoln Diocese.

Conley, who was auxiliary bishop of Denver, has said he will keep the Lincoln Diocese's conservative philosophies and practices. Conley follows retiring Bishop Fabian Bruskewitz (BRUHSK'-eh-wihtz), who led the diocese for 20 years.

The Lincoln Journal Star reports that Conley told those assembled that he's experienced his first Nebraska football victory and eaten his first Runza sandwich and "also already eaten more kolaches than I care to admit."

And then he said, "I am now a Nebraskan."
