01/31/2013

( KNZA )--The preliminary hearing for a Horton man accused of abusing a child has been postponed.

The hearing for 27-year-old Matthew Adams was continued Wednesday in Brown County Court to March 6th.

Adams was charged last week with aggravated battery and felony abuse of a child.

The charges were filed following an investigation by the Horton Police Department and Brown County Sheriff’s Department along with personnel from Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City.

Court documents indicate Adams is accused of shaking the child born last year, causing great bodily harm to the child.

He remains in the Brown County Jail on 150-thousand dollars bond.
