Rulo Family Home Destroyed by Fire

 (KLZA) A Rulo family lost everything in a house fire Tuesday afternoon.  

Fire Chief Jim Coonce said firemen were called shortly before 1 p.m. and remained on the scene until approximately 6:30 p-m.

The home, located in Northwest Rulo, was heavily engulfed in flames by the time firemen arrived on the scene.  The house was owned by Ralph Popejoy who lives there with his wife and three children.

Other fire departments responding to the fire were Falls City Rural and the Iowa Tribal Fire Department.  The Falls City Volunteer Ambulance Squad and Richardson County Sheriff’s Department also responded to the fire.  Firemen from Falls City and Verdon also came to help with the fire.  Chief Coonce said approximately 20-25 firemen helped battle the blaze.

The State Fire Marshall’s Office was called to investigate the cause of the fire which is undetermined at this time.

There was no one home at the time of the fire and no one was injured fighting the fire.
