( KAIR )--A northeast Kansas electric cooperative will get millions of dollars in federal funds to improve their electric distribution system.
The Brown-Atchison Electric Cooperative Association will receive five-point-one million dollars through USDA’s Rural Utilities Service.

Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack announced Monday that rural electric cooperatives and utilities in 12 states will receive $300 million in loan guarantees to improve generation and transmission facilities and implement smart grid technologies.
The announcement was made during the annual meeting of the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association in New Orleans.
