Part-time Falls City Dispatchers will get Raise
02/19/2013

(KTNC) - Part-time Dispatchers with the Falls City Police Department will get a salary increase after all.
After discussion Monday night, the City Council approved a two-and-a-quarter percent pay raise and holiday pay for part-time dispatchers.
The dispatchers had requested the increase, which is the same increase negotiated with full-time city employees last October. City Clerk Gary Jorn explains.  (play audio  :45)
After further discussion, the council also agreed to make the increase retroactive to October 1st.
Police Chief John Caverzagie explained why the request was on the agenda.  (play audio   :29)
The increase brings the starting salary for a part-time dispatcher to $10.70 an hour.  Falls City has four part-time and four full-time dispatchers.  Caverzagie said the part-time dispatchers worked a combined total of 2,089 hours last year.
