(KMZA)--Rescue crews rushed to the scene of a Nemaha County grain elevator early Wednesday afternoon, following the report of a person trapped inside.
It happened at Valley View Milling, located west of Bern, or 8 miles north of Seneca, at 2875 Highway 63.
According to the Nemaha County Sheriff's Office, emergency crews were dispatched to the scene around 12:40 in the afternoon following the report that somone was trapped in a grain bin.
The rescue effort fell just short of three hours, with the person successfully freed from the grain bin at 3:20 in the afternoon, and then flown from the scene by Lifestar helicopter for hospitalized treatment.
Among the agencies assisting with the rescue were the Seneca EMS, the Bern Fire Department, the Nemaha County Sheriff's Office, the Kansas Highway Patrol and the Kansas Department of Transportation.
The person's name, and current medical condition, are not yet being made public.
