58-year-old Rebecca Hollister, a former resident of rural Sabetha, has been living in Topeka where she was arrested late this morning by members of the Atchison County Sheriff's Department and the Kansas Bureau of Investigation. That stemmed from a joint investigation between the two agencies. The Kansas Highway Patrol also provided assistance during the arrest at her home.
She was booked into the Nemaha County Jail on the felony charge of aiding a felon, on bond of $100,000. Following a first appearance in a Nemaha County Courtroom Tuesday afternoon, Hollister was transferred to the Atchison County Jail to be held due to the lack of room at the Nemaha County Jail .
Her preliminary hearing, in Nemaha County, is set for March 25th.
According to a press release from Nemaha County Attorney Brad Lippert, it's alleged that, between November 6th, 2009, and March 1st, 2011, Rebecca Hollister aided her husband, Roger, with the intent that he avoid arrest, trial, conviction or punishment for the commission of a felony.
Roger Hollister is serving life in prison for the murder of Kimmi.
Rebecca Hollister's arrest is the latest twist in the case, with Atchison County Attorney Gerald Kuckelman calling the investigation “active.”
It was this past December that Rebecca Hollister was dismissed from a wrongful death lawsuit filed by Kimmi's children. The lawsuit named her, Roger Hollister and Kimmi's ex-husband, Eugene.
Although Roger Hollister, during his 2011 capital murder trial, blamed Eugene for taking part in the murder, he has never been charged in the death of his ex-wife.
Kimmi's remains were found buried on a Nemaha County farm property owned by Roger Hollister's brother after she disappeared from her rural Horton home in November of 2009.
