( KNZA )--A schedule change is being considered for the Sabetha High School.
Prairie Hills USD 113 Superintendent Bill Orth says the board of education this week discussed a proposal to move from a block schedule to traditional schedule at the school.
Orth said the Axtell and Wetmore Schools currently have a seven period day.
The board was presented with a petition containing about 270 signatures of students, teachers and parents asking that the block schedule be kept at the Sabetha High School.
Orth said the board also discussed a proposal to move the Bern pre-school to the Sabetha Elementary School. He said to make that happen they will need to free up some space at the elementary school and an option being considered to make that happen is moving the 5th grade to the Sabetha Middle School.
Following discussion, Orth said the board voted to have the Sabetha building principals design a seven period day schedule for the Sabetha High School and Middle School along with look at the challenges that might be associated with making the changes.
