Brown Co Employee Recognized

  ( KNZA )-A Brown County employee has been recognized for his years of service to the county.

Brown County Commission Chairman Keith Olsen Monday presented a plaque to William Rutland who is retiring effective Wednesday, March 20th after serving 27 years as a District 1 road crewman.

Olsen thanked Rutland for his years of service and hard work.

Rutland said he has no immediate plans for his retirement, but is looking forward to the time off.

In other business,  County Clerk Debbie Parker presented commissioners with an inspection report on county buildings conducted by the Kansas Workers Risk Cooperative for Counties.  Among other things the report cited the lack an ADA accessible bathroom at the Hiawatha Senior Citizens building, which is owned by the American Legion.  County Attorney Kevin Hill will review the liability and legal issues of the problems with the American Legion building.

And the commission approved the appointment of Brett Trentman as Walnut Township treasurer, due to the resignation of the office by Randy Jurgensmeier.
