(KAIR) -- An early morning Atchsion house fire sends a woman to the hospital suffering from smoke inhalation after she made several attempts to rescue her pets from inside the home.
Fire Chief Mike McDermed says crews responded to the fire at the Celinda Hunsaker residence at 1219 Kansas Avenue at 2:20 Wednesday morning.

Two people were able to make it out of the house by the time crews arrived; however, McDermed says the homeowner indicated that “not everyone” was out of the house.(Audio Continues)
After being subdued by Atchison Police, Hunsaker was transported to the Atchison Hospital for treatment of lacerations to her hands and smoke inhalation.
