Nemaha NRD sets Hearing for Groundwater Rule Changes
03/20/2013

(KTNC) - The Nemaha Natural Resources District Board of Directors set the date for a public hearing on proposed changes to the district’s groundwater rules and regulations.
The hearing will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 11, prior to the board’s next regular meeting.
The NRD’s Water Department staff, Chuck Wingert and Charlie Pierce, reviewed a new system to evaluate new well permits during last week’s board meeting.  The public hearing is the next step in implementing the new system.
In January, the board imposed a 180-day stay on the approval of new well permits.  They will consider lifting the moratorium during the April hearing.
