NRD Board Fills Final Director Vacancy
03/20/2013

(KTNC) - The Nemaha Natural Resources District Board of Directors now has a full complement of members, after the final board vacancy was filled during the March 14th meeting.
The board selected Dan Hodges of Julian to fill a four-year term representing Sub-district 4, which is near Nebraska City.  Hodges farms in Otoe and Nemaha Counties and is also a member of the Julian Volunteer Fire Department and the Otoe County Planning Commission.  He was one of five people who expressed interest in the position.
In action taken during the meeting, the NRD Board awarded contracts to Malone Construction of Douglas to repair a structure northeast of Adams and to build a new dam in the Peru area.
The board voted to extend an annual lease with Bartlett Grain, allowing the company to operate an overhead conveyor above the Steamboat Trace Trail.  The board extended the lease and left the rate unchanged at $600 for another year.
The board approved a three-year extension with Schulz and Associates of Beatrice to continue performing the NRD’s annual audit.
And the board directed NRD staff to obtain proposals from four sources that have expressed interest in providing quotes for property and liability insurance coverage.
