Trooper Injured In Brown County Crash

(KNZA)--Full details are released regarding a double injury Brown County crash that happened late Thursday afternoon. 

It happened five miles south of Hiawatha, at 170th and U.S. Highway 73, when a Kansas Highway Patrol Trooper was rearended by another vehicle. 

According to the Patrol, the Trooper was behind a slow moving southbound farm implement when a Chevy Impala, driven by 20-year-old Everest resident Carley Smith, ran into the rear of Trooper Joseph Bullock's Chevy Tahoe, knocking  his vehicle to the shoulder of the road.  

The 38-year-old Bullock suffered injuries requring treatment at Topeka's Saint Francis Hospital. 

Smith suffered possible injuries and was taken to the Hiawatha Community Hospital. 

The Patrol says both drivers were wearing seatbelts. 

The wreck happened just minutes before 4:00.
