( KMZA )--The retail window hours at the Blue Rapids Post Office in Marshall County will be reduced beginning May 4th.
The hours will be cut from the current seven hours on weekdays to six hours. The window will remain open for one hour from 8 to 9 each Saturday morning.
The new hours will be from 7:30 to 3:30 Monday through Friday, with the office closed for lunch from 11 to 1.
Currently, the hours are from 8 to noon and 1 to 4.
A survey had been mailed to Blue Rapids postal customers in February, which included an option for cutting the window hours and keeping the post office open and three options for closing the office.
Ninety-three percent of the 199 respondents favored reducing the hours. A total 602 surveys were mailed out.
The results of the survey were presented during a recent meeting held in the community by the Postal Service.
