(KTNC) - An emotional surprise at Monday’s Falls City School Board meeting.
Longtime board member Kathy Bartek was presented with an award from the Nebraska Rural Community Schools Association.
Johnson County Central Superintendent Jack Moles made the presentation. Bartek’s family was present for the presentation, along with NRCSA Executive Director and former Falls City Superintendent Dr. Jon Habben and John Bonito, a lobbyist for NRCSA and the School Board Association.
Bartek, who is battling ALS, was not expecting the award.
School Board members, administrators, and Bartek’s family wore t-shirts in support of ALS Awareness.
The NRCSA recognition is the second award Bartek has received in the last few months. Last November, she was presented with the Ann Mactier Leadership for Learning Award by the Nebraska State Board of Education and the Nebraska Association of School Boards.
