( KNZA)- A Doniphan County road improvement project moves forward.
The county commission voted Monday to put the hard surfacing of a portion of Mineral Point Road on the Kansas Department of Transportation’s Federal Funds Exchange program project list for 2015, contingent upon available funds and the program being in existence.
The commission took the action after a group of residents met with commissioners again to discuss the hard surfacing of an eight-tenths of a mile stretch of the road south of Troy, between 180th and 190th Roads.
In other business, Commissioner Terry Horner informed commissioners that Second District road foreman Greg Vertin was terminated effective April 5th. The board will advertise to fill the vacant position.
Also Horner said Jerry Collins and Steve Kostman have been hired for the Second District road shop, effective April 1st, at a rate of $10 an hour plus benefits.
