04/10/2013

Heckenlively says students would be identified based on their test scores, with priority given to those deemed most at-risk of failing the state assessment tests.  He says the program fits well with the district school improvement goals, and.  (play audio  :31)
Specifically, Heckenlively says funds for the position would be recouped by eliminating one para-educator position and discontinuing the part-time Middle School Spanish position, along with added Federal Title One funds, and would not require additional expenditures from the school district.
During his report Monday, Heckenlively also said that one of the two boilers at the Middle School has a crack in the heat exchanger.  The boiler was to have been repaired Monday, but Heckenlively said one needed part was not available, so the repair will be made later this month.
