Prisoner Mentor Program Training In Powhattan

(KNZA)--A first of its kind pilot program is underway in Kansas, intended to assist prisoners with their return to society. 

A program training session is planned for Saturday in Powhattan, and will be overseen, in part, by Ivan Taff, Probation Court Service Officer witht the Kickapoo District Court(Play Audio)

According to Taff, the idea originated from a little known undercover operation performed by Kansas Governor Sam Brownback(Play Audio) 

Taff says all varieties of mentors, from veterans and church groups, to those who have been incarcerated in the past, are invited to Saturday's training session, beginning at 9:00 in the morning, in the library of the Kickapoo Nation School(Play Audio)

Mentoring For Success is a statewide, community based initiative, led by experienced service organizations that work closely with the Kansas Department of Corrections.
