(KTNC) - The City of Humboldt will finance its portion of the purchase price of a new fire truck for the Rural Fire Department through the State Bank of Table Rock. The City Council approved the financing agreement Tuesday night.
The City of Humboldt has agreed to pay 40-percent of the cost of the new truck, with patrons of the Rural Fire District picking up 60-percent of the cost. Total cost of the Ford F-550 truck is $143,000.
The city will finance its portion of the truck with a loan of just over $59,000, to be repaid over five years in semi-annual payments.
The new fire truck will replace a 1989 three-quarter-ton truck. The Rural Fire Department hoped to sell the old truck.
In other business Tuesday night, the Humboldt City Council hired Cindy Riley to be the Swimming Pool Manager this summer, and Jessica Dunlap to be the Assistant Pool Manager.
Barb Dettman was appointed to fill a vacancy on the Auditorium Board.
The council took no action on a request from city employee Terry McMann to leave the city’s group health insurance plan. McMann told the council he wants to drop the city’s group coverage through United Health Care and get a policy with Blue Cross Blue Shield. Council members took the matter under advisement until they talk to the City Attorney.
And, the council gave permission to Humboldt Motor Sports to hold its annual tractor pull on June 14th, and garden tractor pull on June 22nd.
