Preston Road Work Scheduled to Begin June 1st

 (KLZA) The Richardson County Board of Commissioners learned from Highway Superintendent Scott Huppert Tuesday that construction of the Preston North –South Road project is scheduled to begin June 1st.  

Dobson Brothers Construction was previously awarded the bid to hard-surface the road at a cost of $2,087,641.

In other business Commissioners awarded the bid for a 2014 Freightliner truck for the Road Department to Lincoln Truck Center at a cost of $101,575.

Board members also awarded a bid for a 2013 Ram 1500 Crew Cab 4-wheel drive pickup for the Richardson County Sheriff’s Department to Armbruster Motor Company of Falls City at a cost of $24,495.  

Sheriff Houser also met with the Board and requested discussion and plans be made to formalize the move of the Public Service Answering Point, 9-1-1 dispatch to the County Sheriff’s Office.  Commissioners said they will place the item on next weeks agenda.  

Representatives from Prochaska & Associates, Steve Riley and Jay Weingarten met with the Commissioners to present an agreement for the completion of a Needs Assessment for the renovation of the Armory into a Jail/Law Enforcement facility and to review a time line prepared to complete the project.  The Board will have the agreement reviewed by the County Attorney’s office.

Commissioners also approved going ahead with 23 tax foreclosures presented by Deputy County Attorney Doug Merz.
