(KTNC) - Two youngsters sustained minor injuries in an accident on Highway 136 in Atchison County Saturday morning.
The Missouri State Patrol says that 17-year-old Shelby Gilliland of Burlington Junction, was driving a 1998 Pontiac nine miles east of Tarkio shortly before 11:00 a.m. Saturday, when the vehicle went off the north side of the roadway. Gilliland overcorrected and the car went off the south side of the road and struck an embankment.
Shelby Gilliland and an eight-year-old passenger, Mercedes Gilliland, were taken by ambulance to the hospital in Fairfax for treatment of minor injuries. The Highway Patrol says they were not wearing seat belts.
