( KMZA )-Nemaha County will receive a portable light tower to be used in emergency situations.
County Emergency Preparedness Director Todd Swart told the county commission Monday that that the light tower provided by Northeast Regional Homeland Security is 30 feet fall and is on a trailer with a diesel generator.
Swart said while the county won’t have to pay for the tower valued at $17,000, but they will need to add the equipment to the county’s property insurance coverage.
Commissioners voted to accept the light tower.
Sheriff Rich Vernon gave commissioners a letter of resignation from deputy Dennis Entrikin. His last day with the county will be May 20th.
Entrikin has taken a full-time position with the Hiawatha Police Department.
He has worked for the sheriff’s department for more than 11 years and will remain as a part-time officer.
Vernon said he will go through applications already on file with his office in order to try to fill the position.
County Senior Services Director Fern Odum told the commission she needs to replace the refrigerator in the Seneca nutrition center.
Odum received price quotes from two companies.
The commission approved the purchase of two single commercial refrigerators from Mitchell Appliance in Seneca for 32-hundred dollars.
