05/20/2013

(KTNC) - A former Mayor of Pawnee City has died.  Marvin Johnson passed away Sunday at a hospital in Lincoln at the age of 81.
Johnson graduated from Tecumseh High School, and then enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps, before earning an Education degree from Peru State College in 1957.
He moved to Pawnee City after retiring from teaching and coaching in the Omaha Public Schools for 35 years, and was appointed Mayor in August 2002.  He then ran for, and won, a four-year term in December of that year and served as Mayor until December 2006.
Marvin Johnson is survived by his wife, Phyllis, children Mark and Lucinda, and sister Shirlee.  A memorial service is planned for 10:30 Wednesday morning at the United Methodist Church in Pawnee City.
