( KNZA )- A Brown County road has been closed south of Hiawatha.
County officials say heavy rains this week washed out the drain pipe in a culvert on South 7th Street, just east of the Hiawatha Country Club, forcing the closure of the road.
Road Foreman Herb Roland says water worked it's way under the pipe, washing out the soil below and dropping the pipe down about three feet.
Roland said the road will remain closed until repairs can be made once it dry's out.
