06/03/2013

( KMZA )-A bridge replacement project began today ( Monday ) on the U.S. 36 Bridge over Snipe Creek in Marshall County about 3 miles east of K-99.

Crews will replace the existing 45-foot reinforced concrete box with a 47-foot wide reinforced concrete box.

Work will take place daily Monday through Friday during daylight hours throughout the project duration.

Starting today  ( Monday ) crews began construction on an asphalt shoofly on the north side of the existing bridge which will detour eastbound and westbound U.S. 36 traffic while the new bridge is being constructed.

The shoofly detour should be completed by late June, weather permitting.

There will be a 12-foot lane width restriction and a 55 mph speed limit posted through the project work zone at all times. No oversized or supersized loads will be allowed through the project work zone.

Ebert Construction Inc. of Wamego is the primary contractor on the more than $1.1 million project, which is scheduled to be completed in late September weather permitting.
