Kickapoo Tribal Residents Reminded of Fireworks Regs
06/29/2013

( KNZA )--With the 4th of July holiday fast approaching, Kickapoo Tribal Police Chief Mike Dougherty is reminding both residents and visitors to the northeast Kansas reservation of the regulations regarding the use of fireworks.

Dougherty says residents may purchase and possess fireworks from June 25th through July 10th each year, unless otherwise notified or a special permit is requested and granted by the tribe.

Fireworks may be used between the hours of 8 a.m. and 10 p.m. in housing site 8, and from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. in all other housing sites, provided complaints aren’t received for disturbing the peace of other residents.

A firework violation is punishable by a fine of $250, or a jail term.
