(MSC News)--The names of those hospitalized for injuries suffered in a massive Valley Falls fireworks accident remain unreleased.
That word from Jefferson County Sheriff Jeff Herrig, who says the city's fireworks display had just begun Thursday night when, for reasons not yet determined, the contents of the container holding the fireworks ignited, causing them all to explode at once.
Herrig says the investigation is continuing, and it's hoped that video footage captured on an ipad will shed more light on what happened(Play Audio)
Herrig says that means it's possible the flames from a freshly ignited firework could have shot backwards, causing the rest to explode.
Five injuries are confirmed, and while three declined hospitalized treatment, two who were working at the display were transported for treatment.
One is a woman from Ozawkie who sustained a broken arm. Herrig says she was first taken to a Topeka hospital and then flown for further treatment at the University of Kansas Hospital in Kansas City, Kansas.
The other is a man from Valley Falls who sustained severe burns to his arm.
