Contract Approved with Jackson Heights Teachers

 ( KNZA )--The Jackson Heights Board of Education has approved a negotiated agreement with teachers for the 2013-2014 school year.

Under the contract approved by the board this week, teachers will receive a $400 increase in base pay to $32,200 a year.  In addition, the district will pay about $61 more a month toward a teacher’s monthly health insurance premium.

In other business, David Allen was re-elected board president and Konrad Coe as vice-president for the 2013-2014 school year.

The board approved an increase in student and adult lunch prices for 2013-2014.   Student lunch prices will increase 5 cents, while adult lunch prices will increase 15 cents.  In addition, adult breakfast prices will go up 20 cents.

Textbook fees will remain the same.
