Humboldt Man Accused of Threatening Father
07/24/2013

(KTNC) - A Humboldt man was arrested Monday after authorities say he damaged two pickups and threatened his father with a hammer.
According to a probable cause affidavit, the Richardson County Sheriff’s Department was dispatched to the home of John “JD” Cooper at 301 West 1st Street in Humboldt just before 10:30 Monday morning.
Cooper told officers that his 23-year-old son, Devon Cooper, had damaged two of his pickups with a hammer.
The elder Cooper said that he and his son were working on a sprayer, and he had just returned from Humboldt, when he said Devon started yelling at him.  He said his son held a claw hammer in the air and threatened to kill him.
Cooper said he went inside the house and heard noises that sounded like pounding on the trucks.  When he went outside again, he says he noticed dents in both trucks.
Officials were able to locate and arrest Devon Cooper a short time later in Humboldt.  He was booked into the Richardson County Jail on initial charges of making terroristic threats and criminal mischief.
