( KMZA )--A shooting involving an area sheriff remains under investigation.
Washington County Sheriff Justin Cordry responded about 9 o’clock Sunday morning to a report of a domestic violence incident at 741 14th Road in Coleman Township.
When Cordry arrived, he found a woman had barricaded herself in a small camper trailer. Negotiations with the woman were attempted.
Once visual contact was made with the woman, it was found she was in possession of a gun. Cordry told the Marysville Advocate the woman then pointed the gun at him and he fired at her.
Cordry was not hurt. The woman, whose name isn’t being released, was transported by ambulance to the Washington County Hospital, and then later flown to another hospital.
The shooting is being investigated by the Kansas Bureau of Investigation.
The Marshall County Sheriff’s Department and Marysville Police Department assisted Sunday.
