Two from Louisiana Injured in Crash on I29
08/06/2013

(KTNC) - Two Louisiana residents escaped with minor injuries when their car went off the Interstate in northwest Missouri early Monday morning.
The Missouri State Patrol says 25-year-old Keondra Sylvester of Lake Charles, Louisiana, was driving a Hyundai Accent that went into the median of southbound Interstate 29 one mile east of Corning at 5:45 Monday morning.
The Patrol says Sylvester apparently fell asleep at the wheel then overcorrected when she woke up.  The car veered into the median, struck a guardrail and overturned, coming to rest on its top.
Sylvester and a passenger in the vehicle, 16-year-old Lena Ledger-Wilkins, also of Lake Charles, sustained minor injuries.  Both refused treatment at the scene.  The State Patrol says Sylvester was wearing a seatbelt, but Ledger-Wilkins was not.
